Complete Recap
Great Article
about the Nebraska Poker League
from the Columbus Telegraph.
Poker heats up in Nebraska
Hold ’em or fold ’em.
That is just one of the many
phrases or lines one is likely
to hear during a game of poker,
mainly Texas Hold ’Em.
Texas Hold ’Em has been very
popular since the late ’60s but
only recently has the craze hit
Nebraska in an organized,
state-wide form.
5 Nebraska Poker
Players Win There Spots at the
Party at the Palms!!!
On Saturday, May
2nd, 77 poker players from all
over the state settled in for
their chance at the Party at the
Palms Championship in Las Vegas.
The last five players remaining
would claim one of the 50 spots
at the Kingpin Suite at the
Palms Casino with the top two
winning $500 towards travel.
Congratulations to John Harms
(Eastside Cafe & Bar), Cole
Zentner (Melodee Lanes & the
Max), Charlie Woods (Stu's
and the Max), Mike Summers
(Legends), and Dave Jensen
(Double T) for surviving a tough
field and long day of poker! John and Cole each
won $500 towards travel as well.
They are your five Nebraska
state champions and will face
off against 45 other players
from around the U.S. on June
28th. 21 of the 50 players
at the Party at the Palms
championship will win a WSOP
seat the following day on June
29th.
Doug Magee from Tyndall,
SD won the single table National
Championship onboard the
Norwegian Spirit against the
other Ship It! champions.
By winning Doug won the $10,000 Highroller Package which
includes 2 WSOP events and entry
into four other tournaments.
Travis Tunick from
Lincoln, NE and his roommate he
brought with, league player
Mike Krumland had a great
time as well. Both of them
played in the $150 buy-in
tournament with Mike taking
second place for about $1,300.
Travis Tunink from Legends Bar & Grill Wins Championship
Two
Legends players squared off at the end to battle for the coveted Poker
Cruise package. The final hand will be one to remember. Travis Tunink
and Wayne Mart were locked in a great heads-up battle and very close in
chips. Wayne had made a nice comeback to become a threat to win it
all and found himself in a pretty good situation, flopping 2-pair.
Travis (pictured right) had a pocket pair (deuces) with a open-ended
straight draw. All the chips went in. It was Travis' lucky
day...an ace peeled off on the turn giving him a straight and Wayne did
not fill up on the river. Travis Tunink from Lincoln wins a 7-day
Caribbean poker cruise vacation for 2 plus a seat on the cruise and a
shot at the $10,000 Highroller grand prize.
More pictures and details of the tournament coming
soon.

On Sunday May 18th

Tournament hopes and dreams of cashing in on the $1

vanished at the end of day one of the main event.
The scene at the Bay 101 is a great experience, and
definitely the most fan-friendly stop on the World Poker
Tour that we have seen.

What
a vacation, what a tournament! Brook
(pictured left-photo by Ryan Koffler) was
along to support state champions Ryan Koffler
(Dakota Poker League) and and Greg Anderson
(Minnesota Poker League)
in their effort, but ended up having the
tournament of his life!
Ryan Koffler busted
on day 1 making a bold move and enjoyed the
rest of his vacation in the Bahamas, enjoying
the beach, water slides, and of course taking
down various sit-n-go's in the poker room.
Greg Anderson took a bad beat and was
unable to survive.
The television
episode will premiere on Wednesday, May 3rd
at 8pm CST on the Travel Channel
